SUTTON — A Spencer man was arrested Saturday after a multi-agency vehicle pursuit that spanned multiple towns and ended with the deployment of spike strips.
The incident began at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 8 when Detective Sinni of the Sutton Police Department attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Route 146 South.
The operator of the vehicle failed to stop, prompting a pursuit.
The vehicle exited at Exit 13 (Central Turnpike) before re-entering Route 146 South.
The operator lost control in the median near Purgatory Road, causing the front bumper to detach, and continued southbound.
The Uxbridge Police Department and Massachusetts State Police were notified and joined the pursuit.
The vehicle crossed into Rhode Island, leading Detective Sinni to terminate the pursuit at approximately 12:07 p.m.
Shortly after, Massachusetts State Police re-engaged with the same vehicle on Route 146 Northbound near Exit 3.
Sutton officers staged spike strips at Pleasant Valley Road and the Xtra Mart on Route 146 North.
The operator attempted to evade capture by driving through Galaxy Pass and onto Boston Road before returning to Route 146 North.
Officer Lemieux successfully deployed spike strips on the vehicle’s front tires, while Trooper D’Angelo of the Massachusetts State Police disabled the rear tires near Manny’s Appliance.
The pursuit ended on Route 146 North near Harback Road.
Seth Houle, 34, of Spencer, was taken into custody without incident.
He faces multiple charges, including failure to stop for police, negligent operation, operating under the influence of liquor, speeding, possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine), and resisting arrest.
Bail was set at $700.
Houle is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
