North Providence man arrested on drug, gun charges

NORTH PROVIDENCE — A North Providence man was arrested on Jan. 4 by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force on numerous narcotics and firearms charges.

Christopher Rene, 33, was charged following an investigation led by a North Providence Police Detective assigned to HIDTA.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 561 grams of suspected cocaine, 21 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 29 grams of suspected fentanyl, a P80 Polymer80 9mm “Ghost Gun,” approximately $39,000 in U.S. currency, and suspected narcotics packaging material, digital scales, cutting agents and respirator masks from two separate locations in North Providence.

Rene was taken into custody and is facing multiple drug and weapons charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
