Somerville police investigate break-ins, arrest knife-wielding suspect

SOMERVILLE — Somerville Police Department has responded to multiple incidents including a residential break-in and an assault with a knife, leading to one arrest.

On Jan. 28 at approximately 4:08 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Myrtle Street following a report of a past breaking and entering.

The homeowner informed police that his brother had recently passed away and several items were missing from the property.

Earlier that day, at around 2:05 p.m., a separate incident occurred at 779 McGrath Highway.

Police arrived to find a victim who had sustained an eye injury after a physical altercation with another male.

In a more recent event on Feb. 3 at about 1:05 p.m., officers responded to an assault report on Foley Street.

The victim claimed to have been in an argument with a man inside the train station when the suspect brandished a knife and threatened him.

Police successfully located and arrested the male suspect.

Additional criminal activities reported in the area include two bicycle thefts, two car break-ins, one motor vehicle theft, two package thefts, one act of vandalism, and three cases of motor vehicle vandalism.

The Somerville Police Department is actively investigating all incidents and urges anyone with information to come forward.
