NORWALK — A Norwalk man was arrested on gun and drug charges after attempting to evade police on Feb. 3.

Justin Gross, 18, of 50 Connecticut Ave., Apartment 3, was spotted by a patrol officer walking on Connecticut Ave. at 6 p.m.

Gross immediately attempted to cross four lanes of traffic, distancing himself from the officer upon being recognized.

The officer had to order Gross to stop and a subsequent pat down for weapons revealed he had a fully loaded semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine in his pocket.

A further search also revealed he had marijuana packaged for sale on him in addition to the firearm.

Gross was arrested and booked on charges of carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of less than 50 ounces of cannabis by a person between 18 and 21 years old, and illegal sale or manufacture of cannabis by a person over 18.

He was held on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19.
