WARNER — A tractor-trailer driver sustained minor injuries in a crash on Interstate 89 that closed a portion of the highway for several hours, authorities said Sunday.
State Troopers from the Troop D barracks rushed to the scene near Exit 9 on I-89 southbound around 10:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of the accident.
The 2022 white Freightliner Cascadia had veered off the road and into the median, striking a guardrail and several trees, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle.
The driver, Joseph Johnston, 55, of Otisfield, Maine, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by Warner Fire Rescue teams.
He was later transported to Concord Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
An initial examination by the Troopers and emergency responders indicated that a medical emergency led to the crash.
The southbound left lane of the interstate was shut down for about five hours as the crash was investigated and the damaged Freightliner was towed away.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation and Warner Fire Rescue provided assistance at the scene.
