KEENE — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer on Route 101 near Swanzey Factory Road early Monday morning, police said.
Keene Police Department responded to the scene around 5:15 a.m. after reports of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
The initial crash involved a westbound tractor-trailer owned by Cersosimo Lumber from Brattleboro, and driven by Carrol Havreluk, 65, of Jacksonville.
The pedestrian, later identified as Wallace Clark, 58, of Keene, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigators have determined that Clark was initially hit by the tractor-trailer in the westbound lane of Route 101.
Further evidence and witness statements suggest that there were additional collisions involving Clark and other motor vehicles, some of which have not been identified.
A 2012 Toyota Prius, owned by Safe Travel Transportation and operated by Edward Nickerson, 56, of Swanzey, remained at the scene.
The Keene Police Department Collision Analysis Team is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Authorities are appealing to the public for information.
