DOVER — Dover Police Chief William Breault announced the arrest of Scott D.
Porter, 63, on charges including Criminal Threatening, Domestic Violence, and Attempted Obstructing the Report of a Crime or Injury.
On Feb. 2, at about 7:01 p.m., authorities were called to 32 Bellamy Woods after receiving reports of an intoxicated man who had pointed a loaded firearm at an adult female in the home.
Bellamy Woods is a densely populated condominium complex in the southern part of the city.
Dover Police and Dover Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and were able to evacuate the woman from the residence.
She reported that her husband, while intoxicated, had grabbed her, pointed a gun at her, and threatened to kill both her and himself.
Officers also evacuated neighboring residents and instructed others in the nearby area to shelter in place.
The situation escalated when initial attempts to communicate with Porter were unsuccessful, leading to the activation of the Strafford County Regional Tactical Operations Unit.
Porter was taken into custody just before midnight after a standoff.
Following his arrest, he was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A search warrant executed at his residence resulted in the seizure of several firearms.
Porter was held without bail and transferred to the Stafford County Department of Corrections pending his arraignment on Feb. 3.
The Dover Police Department is seeking any additional information related to the incident.
