STAMFORD — A man wanted for a domestic violence and narcotics incident was apprehended by Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit on Jan. 23 after detectives observed him discarding a firearm and ammunition.
Michael Lee, of New Haven, was taken into custody without incident outside 26 Main St. on the city’s west side.
Detectives were aware of Lee’s active warrant related to a December event at a Stamford hotel when they observed him exit the building.
Upon approaching Lee, he quickly removed a silver Charter Arms .44 Boomer SPL revolver and a sandwich bag holding four .44 caliber rounds from his jacket pocket and threw them on the ground.
Both the firearm, which was later identified as stolen from Shelton in the previous year, and the ammunition were secured by the police.
A subsequent search revealed three knotted bags of crack cocaine, totaling 7.6 grams, and nine folds of fentanyl.
Lee faces a slew of charges including criminal possession of a firearm, ammunition, theft of a firearm, and possession of narcotics, in addition to the charges from the December incident which include possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, and domestic violence with a bond set at $50,000.
He is being held on a court-set bond of $250,000 for the new charges and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6.
The Stamford Police Department commended the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit for their diligence in ensuring community safety and apprehending a dangerous, repeat offender.
