SPRINGFIELD — Two individuals were arrested Friday after Springfield police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and seized a loaded firearm, crack-cocaine, and cash.
At around 2:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Bridge and Pearl streets following the alert.
The Springfield Police Department’s Real-Time Analysis Center (R-TAC) provided detailed descriptions of the suspects, leading officers to a building on the 0-100 block of Pearl Street.
Inside an apartment, police found a large-capacity “Ghost Gun” capable of holding 15 rounds, approximately 35 capsules of crack-cocaine, and $88 in cash in a backpack.
The suspects were positively identified at the scene.
Jayden Colon, an 18-year-old Springfield resident, was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a high-capacity magazine/feeding device, and improper storage of a firearm.
The second suspect, a 17-year-old accused of the shooting, was also arrested.
Due to the suspect’s age, his identity and specific charges are withheld.
The arrests were made around 3:25 p.m., shortly after the initial ShotSpotter activation.
The case remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department.
