BOSTON — A juvenile was arrested Friday for possessing a loaded firearm following a disturbance at a Brighton school, according to the Boston Police Department.
Officers assigned to District D-14 responded to a reported verbal altercation involving multiple students at Mary Lyons School on Beechcroft Street around 12:40 p.m. School staff intervened to de-escalate the situation, and police remained at the scene until dismissal due to concerns the dispute might escalate.
Later that afternoon, officers acting on a tip about one of the involved students located the individual in a laundromat near the school.
The juvenile attempted to flee but was quickly detained.
A search near the suspect led to the discovery of a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver with six rounds of .38 special ammunition in a black jacket.
The 16-year-old male juvenile was taken into custody and transported to D-14 for booking.
He is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
His arraignment is set for Brighton District Court.
