PORTSMOUTH — On Jan. 24, at approximately 7:22 p.m., Portsmouth Police arrested 24-year-old Fall River resident Dara Dupre for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) with a child under the age of 13 in the car.
An officer spotted a white Volkswagen Tiguan speeding on East Main Road near Walgreens.
After pulling over the vehicle, the officer noted that Dupre, the driver, showed signs of intoxication, including a strong smell of alcohol.
A 2-year-old was found secured in a car seat in the back.
Dupre failed standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
At Portsmouth Police Headquarters, she failed a chemical breath test.
She received a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal citation for speeding and faces charges for DUI – 1st offense and DUI with a child under 13 as a passenger – 1st offense.
Dupre’s formal arraignment is set for Jan. 30 at the 2nd Division District Court.
