WESTBROOK — A 41-year-old Westbrook man was arrested Thursday morning on charges of trafficking fentanyl following a high-risk search warrant execution at his residence, authorities said.
Christopher Ciprian faces two counts of trafficking in Schedule W drugs (fentanyl), Class B felonies, and two counts of felony possession of Schedule W drugs (fentanyl), Class C offenses.
Bail was set at $10,000 cash.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) and Westbrook Police Department began investigating suspected drug trafficking at 43 Rochester Street in December 2024 after receiving multiple complaints.
Agents observed activity consistent with illegal drug sales at all hours from a first-floor apartment.
During the investigation, undercover agents made several drug purchases from Ciprian at his apartment, leading to an arrest warrant and search warrant.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the Cumberland County Emergency Services Unit took Ciprian into custody without incident as he left his apartment.
The tactical team was used due to safety concerns, including the seriousness of the charges and the possibility Ciprian was armed.
A search of the apartment yielded approximately 80 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), a loaded 9mm Glock handgun, and other evidence of drug trafficking.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $12,000.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
Assisting in the operation were members of the Westbrook Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and Cumberland County ESU.
