LEWISTON — A 49-year-old transient man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a home burglary and vehicle theft that occurred earlier that day, police said.
Jason Folkner, of no fixed address, was taken into custody at 11:35 a.m. outside a local business where he allegedly used a stolen credit card.
Police found the victim’s stolen vehicle in the parking lot and recovered a discarded purse nearby.
The incident began early Tuesday morning when Lewiston police responded to a report of a burglary at a single-family home.
The homeowner discovered her purse missing, the kitchen ransacked and her vehicle stolen.
Later, a neighbor reported confronting a male intruder in their home around 4 a.m. The suspect fled, but the incident was captured on home surveillance footage.
Folkner, who matched the description from the surveillance video, faces charges of burglary, burglary of a motor vehicle, theft by unauthorized use of property, and theft of lost, mislaid, or misdelivered property.
He was transported to Androscoggin County Jail with bail set at $2,500.
The investigation is ongoing.
