Campton man arrested for sex offender registry violations

1 min read

CAMPTON — After an extensive investigation, the Campton Police Department arrested Jayson Mooney, 32, on felony charges for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

On Jan. 24, authorities took Mooney into custody following a tip-off that he had been residing at an apartment complex in Plymouth without reporting the temporary address, a mandate due to his status as a registered sex offender.

Mooney’s registration stems from a conviction for Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault involving a victim under 13 years of age.

The investigation focused on tracking Mooney’s movements in November and December of last year.

With two previous convictions for similar registration violations, the State argued for Mooney’s preventative detention without bail.

However, despite the State’s recommendation, Mooney was ultimately released on personal recognizance bail.

The Campton Police Department has not provided further details on the terms of Mooney’s release or any additional measures to ensure compliance with registration laws.
