SOMERVILLE — A series of crimes have rocked the local community, with the Somerville Police Department investigating an assault and a residential breaking and entering alongside other criminal activities.
The assault incident, logged as case number 25002968, occurred on Jan. 17 at around 9:48 a.m. A man reported to the police that his son was struck in the head with an object by another student, causing the boy to lose consciousness.
The police are currently looking into the matter to determine the details of the assault and the student responsible.
In a separate incident, case number 25002454, Somerville Police were called to a home on Bromfield Rd. on Jan. 14 at roughly 3:27 p.m.
A resident returned from vacation to discover his bicycle missing from his basement.
The officers have since identified a suspect in the breaking and entering case.
Additional crimes reported in the area included two motor vehicle thefts, five incidents of package theft, three cases of motor vehicle vandalism, two car break-ins, and an additional bike theft.
The Somerville Police Department is actively investigating these crimes and asks anyone with information to come forward to assist in the resolution of these cases.
The spate of criminal activity has caused concern among residents, prompting local authorities to urge the community to take necessary precautions to secure their property and report any suspicious behavior.
