NEEDHAM — A series of arrests and investigations into fraudulent activities kept Needham police officers busy over the past week, with multiple incidents reported including larceny, identity fraud, and vehicle violations.
On Jan. 13, at 8:47 a.m., a vehicle was stopped on Highland Avenue at the RT128N ramp for having no inspection sticker, an expired registration sticker, and a cracked windshield.
The 38-year-old operator from Wellesley was found to be driving with a revoked registration, no insurance, and without a license.
He will be summoned to court on several charges.
Later that same day, officers responded to a business on Highland Avenue for a past larceny and took a report from a Webster Street resident who experienced identity fraud after an unknown individual took over their Verizon account.
On Jan. 14, a joint operation with Brookline Police on Pinewood Road led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Needham resident, charged as an accessory after the fact to an incident that occurred in Brookline on Jan. 11.
The same day, a Newton man was pulled over for expired registration and found to be unlicensed.
He will be summoned to court.
Identity fraud continued to be a theme with a Wachusett Road resident reporting past fraud on Jan. 14.
The next day, a Hillside Avenue resident reported giving personal information to a fraudulent website.
On Jan. 16, officers investigated a fire in an elevator on First Avenue and a suspicious package on Harris Avenue.
An Arnold Road resident reported employment fraud.
The week’s incidents culminated on Jan. 17 with the arrest of a 27-year-old Boston man on an NCIC warrant out of Sanford, Maine.
He was also charged with arson and malicious destruction of property related to an incident at Homewood Suites on Jan. 16.
Needham police continue to document and investigate these and other incidents, urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
