LEBANON — A Canaan man was arrested after assaulting a woman at a local fast-food restaurant and leading police on a chase that ended in his hometown, authorities said.
At approximately 10:34 a.m. on Jan. 22, Lebanon Police Department officers responded to a report of an assault at the KFC/Taco Bell in West Lebanon.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old David Campbell from Canaan, fled the scene before officers arrived.
When police located and approached Campbell, he refused to obey their commands and sped away in his vehicle.
A pursuit ensued on I-89 southbound towards Canaan, but officers discontinued the chase due to safety concerns.
Later in the afternoon, Canaan Police Department officers located and arrested Campbell in Canaan.
He faces charges of simple assault, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
All charges against Campbell are Class A misdemeanors.
Following his arrest, Campbell was released on personal recognizance bail.
