NAUGATUCK — An 86-year-old woman died following a serious fire at Oak Terrace Housing early Tuesday morning.
Naugatuck Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance were called to the scene at 53 Conrad Street, Unit 36A, after a fire alarm went off around 2:30 a.m.
Firefighters located the elderly victim inside the apartment with severe burn injuries.
The victim was quickly transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Firefighters worked diligently to put out the blaze.
Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal has joined the local authorities in the investigation.
