EAST HAVEN — An East Haven man was arrested Tuesday morning following a threatening incident involving a firearm that led to a school lockdown and shelter-in-place orders for nearby residents.
At around 8:10 a.m., police responded to reports of a disturbance at Breezewood Condominiums on Coe Avenue.
A male had allegedly pointed a rifle out of a window during a verbal altercation over loud music from a car.
The East Haven Police Department said the complainant identified the unit from which the suspect, Vincent Esposito, 50, was alleged to have made threats with a rifle.
Officers issued a lockdown for Momauguin School and a shelter-in-place for locals as a precaution.
After several attempts to contact Esposito, he exited his residence and was taken into custody without incident.
A BB rifle, as described by the complainant, was found in Esposito’s home.
Esposito faces charges of threatening in the first degree, carrying or sale of a dangerous weapon, and breach of peace in the second degree.
He is held on a $100,000 bond and will appear in court on Feb. 5.
The East Haven Police are seeking additional evidence and have requested residents to share any related video footage with Officer Ryan Michalowski at [email protected].
No injuries were reported from the incident.
