BOSTON — A drug trafficking suspect was apprehended Monday night by officers from the Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit in the Brighton neighborhood.

At about 7:05 p.m., on Jan. 13, officers from District D-14, which covers Allston/Brighton, arrested Jaron Manon, 27, of Lynn, following a surveillance operation near 19 Farrington Street.

Observing two men at the doorway of the building, one of whom handed a cellphone to the other, officers kept watch as the individuals entered a parked car, reentered the building briefly, and repeated the process several times.

When the suspects departed in the vehicle, police noticed a defective back-up light and initiated a traffic stop on Linden Street.

Upon contact, the driver, later identified as Manon, refused to keep his hands visible and comply with orders to exit the vehicle.

A struggle occurred as police removed and handcuffed him, discovering a large bag of cocaine on his person.

During the arrest, officers also spotted a rear passenger reaching for a knife and promptly secured the weapon.

Two passengers were removed from the vehicle; a female suspect was found in possession of mushrooms, Adderall, and multiple glass pipes, while a second male suspect had prescription bottles with various pills not prescribed to him.

Manon faces charges of trafficking Class B drugs and operating after suspension and is slated for arraignment in Brighton District Court.

The accompanying suspects received court summonses on drug possession charges.
