BOSTON — Boston police arrested a man on multiple firearm charges early Monday after a Shot Spotter activation led them to recover a stolen gun.
Officers from District B-2 in Roxbury responded to the sound of gunfire detected by Shot Spotter technology around 12:14 a.m. near 20 Magnolia St. Upon their arrival, they observed Tyreem Horton, 30, of Dorchester, walking quickly from Alexander Street with his hands in his coat pockets.
When police approached, Horton fled on foot, prompting a chase.
Despite officers’ commands, Horton resisted arrest but was ultimately subdued and handcuffed.
A stolen Glock 23, with a live round jammed in the ejection port and nine rounds in a large capacity magazine, was found in Horton’s possession.
Horton faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Resisting Arrest.
He also had an active warrant for various drug offenses.
Horton is set to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
