CONCORD — A severe winter storm led to the closure of several major highways in New Hampshire as state police responded to numerous traffic incidents Sunday and Monday.
Between 3 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, the New Hampshire State Police were called to 98 crashes and vehicles that slid off the road, in addition to 18 disabled vehicles.
Multiple vehicle pile-ups were common in the morning hours, though no serious injuries were reported.
Major roadways affected included Interstate 95, Interstate 93, the Spaulding Turnpike, Route 101, and the F.E. Everett Turnpike.
These roads were closed between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Monday but have been reopened since.
New Hampshire State Police urge motorists to exercise caution during winter conditions, suggesting reduced speeds and increased following distances.
They also remind drivers to adhere to state laws that require giving space to emergency responders and removing snow and ice from vehicles before driving.
Violations of these laws, known as the Move Over law and Jessica’s Law respectively, could result in fines and further penalties.
