BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a man on charges of package theft and drug possession in Dorchester Wednesday afternoon.

At about 1:35 p.m., officers on patrol near Geneva Avenue, tasked with addressing a spate of package thefts, noticed Najib Dagher, 37, of Sharon, carrying multiple packages while walking down the street.

Dagher, who was not dressed in a postal uniform, was seen leaving the packages on the porch of 421 Geneva Avenue before walking away.

Upon inspection, police discovered that none of the packages were addressed to the residence.

As officers were investigating, Dagher returned to the scene.

After refusing to comply with the officers’ orders to stop, he attempted to leave but was swiftly apprehended.

During the arrest, officers found a bag containing Fentanyl in Dagher’s possession.

He faces charges of Larceny from a Building and Possession of Class A drugs.

Dagher is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court.
