SPRINGFIELD — A local woman was arrested and faces several charges including attempting to elude police and grossly negligent operation after a high-speed chase earlier this month, the Springfield Police Department reported.
Pamela Runnells, 40, of Springfield, was taken into custody on Dec. 7 at a residence in Bellows Falls after initially evading police on Dec. 4.
According to Officer Freeman, the incident began at approximately 3:06 a.m. when he spotted a vehicle at the Springfield Circle K that matched the description of one involved in previous eluding incidents.
Upon identifying Runnells, who allegedly had an outstanding warrant, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed along Missing Link Road towards Rockingham.
Due to unsafe conditions, Officer Freeman discontinued the pursuit in line with department policy but obtained confirmation of Runnells’ identity from a witness accompanying her at the time.
Runnells, who was found several days later, was arrested and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.
She was issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit, on Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m. to respond to charges including attempting to elude, grossly negligent operation, criminal DLS, and excessive speed.
