Providence man arrested as fugitive on drug distribution charge

PROVIDENCE — Troopers on Saturday morning arrested a 25-year-old Providence man on a fugitive warrant from Massachusetts for allegedly distributing hallucinogenic drugs, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Victor Baptiste was taken into custody after a motor vehicle stop on Charles Street at 9:15 a.m.

The arrest was executed by troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks based on a warrant issued by the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.

Baptiste was processed at the barracks, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and subsequently turned over to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

In a separate incident on the same day at 9 p.m., Jose A. Rosado, a 28-year-old from Springfield, Massachusetts, surrendered himself at the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

Rosado faced multiple charges including larceny, obstruction, disorderly conduct, and conspiracy following a barracks investigation.

After processing and arraignment, he was released with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.

Yatzel Berrios Ramos, also from Springfield, Massachusetts, was arrested on similar charges as Rosado after turning himself in at the same time.

The 20-year-old was processed and released with a court notice as well.
