RUTLAND — A New York man has been apprehended following a break-in at a local Sunoco gas station on Christmas Day.
Vermont State Police arrested Peter J. Marshall, 37, of Granville, New York, on Jan. 19 in connection with the burglary that occurred at 117 US RT 7 S.
Marshall was later cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court on Jan. 22 at 12:30 p.m.
Officials said troopers responded to an alarm at the Sunoco around 4:22 a.m. on Dec. 25, where they discovered that two suspects had forced entry through the front door and stolen various items.
Photos of the suspects were released with the initial news of the break-in, prompting a public appeal for information.
With the assistance of the Rutland City Police Department, investigators were able to identify Marshall as one of the suspects involved in the burglary.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and have not disclosed whether the second suspect has been identified or apprehended.
