LEWISTON — A joint operation involving the Lewiston Police Department and federal agencies on Jan. 17 led to the arrest of a Leeds man found with a significant amount of drugs and an illegal firearm.
John Labbe, 44, was taken into custody on College Street after police discovered he was carrying 161 grams of fentanyl and 20 grams of crack cocaine.
Labbe, who has a history of felony convictions, was also found to be in possession of a pistol, violating laws prohibiting him from having firearms.
The Lewiston Police Department collaborated with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the operation that resulted in Labbe’s arrest.
Charges against Labbe include possession of controlled substances and illegal possession of a firearm.
Authorities have not provided further details on the investigation or Labbe’s previous convictions.
Labbe is currently being held pending a court appearance.
