BOSTON — A 20-year-old Boston man was arrested on firearm and drug trafficking charges Friday after officers from the A-1 Drug Control Unit witnessed what they suspected to be a street-level drug transaction.

At about 12:58 a.m., officers were conducting surveillance near Franklin and Hawley streets when they observed D’Vente Vick and other males congregating by Post Office Square.

According to police, Vick was seen displaying an item to the group, prompting officers to intervene.

Upon approaching two individuals near Federal Court, officers observed one drop a plastic bag containing crack cocaine.

Both were informed they would face court summons for possession of Class B drugs.

The police then focused on Vick, who had moved away from the group, stopping him at 128 Tremont Street with the aid of two Detail Officers.

During the arrest, officers discovered multiple bags of crack cocaine totaling 44 grams and $215 in cash on Vick.

A further search revealed a P80 firearm with seven rounds and no serial number on Vick.

He was subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a loaded firearm, ammunition, defacement of a firearm serial number, trafficking over 36 grams of a Class B substance, and distribution of Class B drugs.

Vick is set to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
