Teen arrested for DUI after truck overturns on I-89 in Middlesex

MIDDLESEX — A single-vehicle crash on I-89 northbound led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Waterbury resident on DUI charges late Friday night.

According to Vermont State Police, the incident occurred at 9:54 p.m. near mile marker 61 when a 2009 Toyota truck veered off the road into the median.

The vehicle overturned and came to a stop in the northbound lane, sustaining total damage.

The juvenile operator, who was wearing a seatbelt, escaped injury.

The driver exhibited signs of impairment at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody.

After processing at the Berlin State Police Barracks, the individual was released with a citation to appear in the Washington Circuit of VT Superior Court on Jan. 30.

Emergency services, including the Waterbury Fire Department and Ambulance Service, responded to the crash.

Road and weather conditions were reported to be clear at the time of the accident.
