HANOVER — A local man was arrested Thursday evening after a joint investigation by Hanover Police and the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crimes Unit led to the discovery of child abuse sexual material in his home.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of 27-year-old Patrick Turpin, following an inquiry that revealed his involvement in the possession and dissemination of the illegal material.

Additional evidence was found and seized during the search.

Turpin faces one count each of possession and dissemination of child abuse sexual material, according to a press release from Hanover Police Chief Timothy Kane.

Following his arrest, he was booked at the Hanover Police Station and held overnight with bail set at $25,000 by an after-hours bail clerk.

The suspect was arraigned on Friday at Hingham District Court, where the bail amount was maintained and a pretrial date was scheduled.

The Cyber Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, has taken possession of the seized evidence for forensic examination.

Chief Kane emphasized the department’s commitment to community safety and expressed gratitude to the Massachusetts State Police for their ongoing support in the investigation.

Additional charges against Turpin are anticipated once the investigation concludes.
