FAIR HAVEN — A local woman was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, Fair Haven Police Department officials said Friday.

Lorien J. Stannard, 31, of Fair Haven, was taken into custody on Jan. 17 after a police investigation into a crash that occurred five days earlier, on Jan. 12.

Authorities reported to North Park Place following calls about a car crash.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle had collided with a light pole and traffic signs before fleeing the scene.

Police located the vehicle involved on Jan. 14 and interviewed Stannard, the operator.

The investigation revealed that Stannard was allegedly driving too fast, lost control of her vehicle, struck the light pole, and then left the scene without reporting the incident to the police.

Stannard was arrested, issued a citation, and is scheduled to appear in Rutland District Court to respond to the charge.

The investigation was led by Ptl. Tyler Duel and Chief William Humphries.
