LEWISTON — A 24-year-old transient man was arrested Jan. 15 on charges of possessing sexually explicit materials of a child under 12, authorities said.

David Brower was taken into custody by the Lewiston Police Department on a Class C felony warrant stemming from an investigation that involved both local police and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

The probe into Brower’s activities began following a tip-off to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The collaborative effort between the agencies led to the issuance of the arrest warrant and Brower’s subsequent apprehension.

Brower is now being held at the Androscoggin County Jail with bail set at $5,000.

If convicted, he faces a potential prison sentence and other penalties as determined by the court.
