COHASSET — A 20-year-old Hull man was arrested early Jan. 17 on firearms charges after Cohasset Police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a possible domestic issue involving the man allegedly following the caller’s vehicle.
Nathan G. Sweeney was charged with unlawful carrying of a loaded handgun, improper storage of a firearm, and improper storage of ammunition.
The caller, who dialed 9-1-1 around 3:30 a.m., reported being followed for about 30 minutes by a Dodge Ram pickup driven by a man who might be the boyfriend of his female passenger and who was possibly armed.
Officers Kevin Lynch, Brendan Skerry, and Sergeant Harrison Schmidt were dispatched to Main Street, where Officer Lynch conducted a vehicle stop near Cohasset Common.
Upon questioning Sweeney, the driver of the truck, and conducting an investigation, police discovered a loaded 9mm handgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, another gun, and ammunition in his possession.
Authorities determined that Sweeney was not licensed to carry a pistol.
He was arrested, taken to the police headquarters, booked, and held overnight pending arraignment.
