WATERBURY — Two men face multiple charges after police seized drugs and a stolen firearm during a traffic stop Saturday.
Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit and Vice and Intelligence Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima while patrolling the Willow Street area at 8:30 p.m.
Police identified the driver as Julian Carey, 28, and the passenger as Michael Dileo, 32, both of Waterbury.
During the investigation, officers seized approximately 21 grams of crack cocaine, 25 bags of heroin, 24 pills, 71 capsules containing 33 grams of crack cocaine, 8 grams of cocaine, $135 in cash and a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm firearm.
Authorities determined Carey, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms.
The seized firearm was reported stolen.
Carey faces multiple charges including theft of a firearm, possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, criminal possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.
Dileo was charged with possession of narcotics.
The traffic stop was part of ongoing efforts to address quality of life and violence-related issues in the community, police said.
