SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police officers seized a loaded large-capacity firearm and arrested a 21-year-old man following a disturbance outside a bar early Thursday morning.
At approximately 1:55 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on the 400 block of Belmont Avenue.
Upon arrival, they discovered the incident stemmed from a two-vehicle crash.
As officers approached, they observed the driver of one vehicle, later identified as Jeyver Pabon-Flores of Chicopee, attempting to leave the scene.
When instructed to park his car, Pabon-Flores exited the vehicle and fled on foot onto Burlington Street, visibly holding a firearm.
Following a brief pursuit, officers apprehended Pabon-Flores on the 300 block of Dickinson Street and disarmed him.
The recovered firearm was loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition and had been reported stolen from Vermont.
Pabon-Flores faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and receiving stolen property valued under $1,200.
Additional charges include unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, number plate violation to conceal identification, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
