EAST HARTFORD — A former employee of Kia of East Hartford faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing approximately $142,000 from the company, police said Tuesday.
Brandy Kaiser, 40, of Manchester, turned herself in to the East Hartford Police Department on Jan. 7.
She was charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree identity theft and two counts of illegal use of a payment card.
Authorities said Kaiser wrote company checks to herself and used the company’s bank account to pay personal expenses, including rent, electricity bills and an auto loan.
Detective Christina Johnston, who led the investigation, said the case was resolved through cooperation within the investigative team.
Kaiser’s arrest followed what police described as a lengthy and thorough investigation.
The East Hartford Police Department did not provide details on when the alleged thefts occurred or how long Kaiser was employed at the dealership.
Officials did not announce a court date for Kaiser or specify if she had retained an attorney.
The case remains under investigation.
