TOPSHAM — Two men were arrested on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs and a loaded firearm, police said Tuesday.

Officer Samson of the Topsham Police Department conducted the stop at approximately 1 a.m. Monday at the Circle K Convenience Store.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded 33.3 grams of fentanyl, 3.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 10 Xanax pills and a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun.

Leonard Constant, 31, of Manchester, N.H., the driver of the vehicle, and Bradford Ross, 32, of Limington, Maine, a passenger, were both arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled W drugs (fentanyl), a Class A offense.

The suspects were transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Both are awaiting initial court appearances.
