Rhode Island State Police make multiple arrests, including repeat offender and out-of-state suspect

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police reported a series of arrests made at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, including a repeat offender for violating a protection order.

At 5 p.m., troopers took Michael Carter, 41, of Providence, into custody for a third or subsequent offense of violating a district court protection order.

Carter turned himself in following an investigation led by Trooper Stinson.

After being processed and arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, Carter was released with a summons to appear at Sixth District Court.

Later in the evening, at 9:45 p.m., Stephen Taylor, 23, also of Providence, was arrested on a Sixth District Court bench warrant for failing to appear on the original charge of driving with a suspended license.

The arrest occurred during a residence check.

Taylor was processed and released with a court date after arraignment at the barracks.

At 10:47 p.m., a traffic stop on Route 95 in Cranston led to the arrest of Jovita Garcia Perez, 21, of Providence, for forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates and providing false documents to a public official.

Garcia Perez was arraigned at the barracks and subsequently transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution – Female Intake Center as a bail violator.

The final arrest of the night occurred at 11:50 p.m. when Krishon Butler, 28, from Birmingham, Alabama, was apprehended for obtaining a vehicle with the intent to defraud, a charge stemming from the Pawtucket Police Department.

Following a vehicle stop in Pawtucket, Butler was processed at the barracks and handed over to local authorities.
