Two vehicles collide at East Montpelier intersection

MONTPELIER — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of VT Route 14 South and US Route 2 resulted in minor injuries for one driver on Dec. 31.

Vermont State Police troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the scene at approximately 3:46 p.m., where they found the vehicles, a 2006 Toyota Corolla Matrix and a 2022 Ford F-150, with substantial damage.

The Toyota, driven by 34-year-old Kevin M. Ackley of Montpelier, sustained significant passenger-side and front-end damage.

Ackley, who was wearing his seatbelt, suffered suspected minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

Zachary A. Currie, 41, from W. Charleston, was identified as the driver of the Ford, which also had substantial front-end and passenger-side damage.

Currie, who was wearing his seatbelt, did not report any injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Toyota was traveling southbound on US Route 2 and attempting to turn left onto VT Route 14 South when it collided with the Ford, which was heading northbound on US Route 2.

East Montpelier Fire & Rescue provided assistance at the scene, along with Cross Town Towing and LaRoche Towing, which helped in clearing the vehicles from the intersection.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
