MERIDEN — A Meriden man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and child abuse following an extensive investigation by the Special Crimes Unit, authorities said Monday.
Adaliz Rojas, 32, was arrested in New Haven on Dec. 14 after a warrant was issued, charging him with two counts each of Sexual Assault 3rd Degree, Risk of Injury/Impairing the Morals of Children, and Strangulation/Suffocation 2nd Degree.
The charges stem from allegations that he sexually assaulted and physically abused a 6-year-old child on numerous occasions over several years in both Meriden and New Haven.
The investigation into the accusations against Rojas began in July 2024.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the SCU obtained the arrest warrant that ultimately led to Rojas’s arrest.
Following his arrest, Rojas was released on a $25,000 court-set bond.
The Meriden Police Department emphasized its dedication to child protection, stating, “We understand the impact of these crimes and we work with partner agencies to help provide services to the affected victims and their families.”
They reiterated their policy of thoroughly investigating every allegation of crimes against children reported to the department.
