DENNIS — The Dennis Police Department has announced the arrest of an individual in connection with threats of gun violence made against students at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.
The threats, which were circulated via social media on Dec. 25, prompted a swift response from local officers and School Resource Officers from both Dennis and Yarmouth Police Departments.
Working closely with personnel from the Dennis-Yarmouth School District, authorities were able to trace the origin of the menacing posts.
The suspect was taken into custody at the Dennis Police Department and is facing charges under MGL 269/14/B for making a bomb/hijack threat that caused serious public alarm.
Following the arrest, the individual was arraigned at the Orleans District Court on Dec. 27.
To protect the integrity of the investigation, the Dennis Police Department is withholding the identity of the suspect and any further details related to the threatening social media content.
