SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield woman was charged with assaulting medical staff at Springfield Hospital, police said.

According to a press release from the Springfield Police Department, officers were called to the hospital at 25 Ridgewood Road around 12:38 p.m. on Dec. 7, following reports that Chelsea Long, 25, of Chester, was “out of control.”

After investigating the incident, authorities found that Long had assaulted several staff members.

She was subsequently issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Feb. 4 to respond to the charges.

The police clarified that they do not have control over bail or incarceration decisions, which are managed by the judicial system, including judges, court clerks, and the state attorney’s office.

Investigating officers included Officer Singleton, Cpl. Perkins, and Officer Freeman.
