BRANFORD — A fire that erupted in a barn-style shed claimed the life of one individual and spread to an adjacent building on North Ivy Street, officials said.
The Branford Fire Department responded to the blaze after receiving a 911 call at approximately 6:22 p.m. reporting the fire at 155 North Ivy Street, near unit #24.
Multiple additional calls were received while units were en route, indicating the fire was spreading.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a 12×20 barn fully engulfed in flames, with the fire extending to a nearby building.
The fire was quickly brought under control, but during a subsequent search of the barn, firefighters found a deceased individual.
The Branford Fire Marshal, with the assistance of the Branford Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Fire Investigation Unit, is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
No further details have been released at this time as the investigation continues.
