WATERBORO — An attempt to apprehend a man wanted for theft led York County Sheriff’s Deputies to a significant drug bust yesterday evening, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of over 50 grams of crack cocaine.

Deputies went to a residence on Preston Way to locate Anthony Foglio, 39, of Waterboro, who had outstanding warrants for theft.

Upon arrival, a male fled out the back door.

The deputies gave chase and quickly apprehended the suspect, initially identified under a false name.

Further investigation revealed his true identity as 23-year-old Wilquel Andres Sanchez Lara from Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Deputy Cody Frazier and his K-9 partner Rebel were called to assist.

Rebel located a baggy containing 52.6 grams of crack cocaine, which authorities believe was discarded by Lara during the chase.

Lara was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Schedule W Drug.

His bail was set at $25,000 cash.

Foglio was also arrested at the scene on the outstanding warrants and an additional charge of Violation of Condition of Release.

He is being held without bail.

Both men are scheduled to make their initial court appearance at the York Unified Court today at 1 p.m.

During a subsequent search of the home, a small amount of drugs was found and seized.

Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues, with support from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Maine State Police.
