FALL RIVER — A man attempting to evade police by hiding in a chimney during a drug raid became stuck and required rescue before being arrested, authorities said Tuesday.
On Dec. 10, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., detectives from the Fall River Police Department’s Community Action & Suppression Team executed a search warrant at 127 Canal Street.
As officers entered the residence, two men fled to the roof.
One suspect escaped by jumping onto a parked vehicle, while the other, identified as Robert Langlais, 33, tried to hide inside a chimney, police said.
Langlais became trapped in the chimney and had to be rescued by the same detectives he was attempting to elude.
The Fall River Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services assisted in the extraction.
As a precaution, Langlais was taken to a local hospital, where he was medically cleared before being formally arrested.
He faces charges of possession of Class A and Class B drugs, along with multiple outstanding warrants.
Also arrested at the scene was Tanisha Ibay, 32, who was charged with possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation by the Community Action & Suppression Team.
Police did not disclose the specific types or quantities of drugs seized during the raid.
