Boston teen arrested for illegal firearm possession

BOSTON — A 17-year-old male was arrested Monday after a foot chase led police to discover an illegal firearm and ammunition in his possession, authorities said.

Officers from the Boston Police Department’s District B-3 were conducting a firearm investigation near Delhi Street at 2:25 p.m. when they spotted the suspect.

Upon noticing the officers, the teen fled on foot while appearing to secure an object in his waistband.

The suspect entered an apartment, where officers later apprehended him.

A search warrant executed at 12:06 a.m. Tuesday revealed a Polymer 80 firearm with a flashlight and laser sight, along with 19 rounds in a large-capacity magazine and five additional 9mm rounds.

The juvenile faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large-capacity feeding device.

He is scheduled for arraignment in Boston Juvenile Court.

The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by Boston police to address gun violence in the city.

Authorities continue to urge community cooperation in reporting illegal firearms.
