ASHLAND — A suspect is behind bars after striking multiple New Hampshire State Police cruisers during a high-speed pursuit on Saturday night.
At 7:44 p.m., Trooper Nathaniel Perkins attempted to stop a 2015 Ford Focus for speeding at 104 mph on Interstate 93.
The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Jack Dobbins of Waterville Valley, failed to comply, turned off his vehicle’s lights, and accelerated away from the scene, initiating the chase.
As the pursuit continued, Dobbins entered a residential area in Holderness, made a dangerous U-turn, and collided with Perkins’ fully marked State Police cruiser, risking severe injury to the trooper and his K9 partner.
Responding law enforcement officers from various barracks and local police departments joined the chase, which lasted approximately 45 minutes.
The suspect attempted to avoid capture by hiding his vehicle in different locations, including a driveway.
Despite being surrounded by police, Dobbins struck a second State Police cruiser multiple times in another escape attempt before his vehicle became immobilized.
Dobbins was apprehended and now faces charges of disobeying an officer, reckless driving, driving after revocation or suspension, and multiple felony counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
A female passenger was also detained but later released without charges.
Suffering from minor injuries, Dobbins was treated at the scene and subsequently refused bail.
He is currently detained at the Grafton County Department of Corrections.
No other injuries were reported.
State Troopers from the Troop F, D, and E barracks, alongside local officers from Campton, Thornton, Plymouth, Plymouth State University, Ashland, and Holderness, all provided assistance during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Trooper Nathaniel Perkins at (603) 451-9543.
