Fair Haven woman charged with retail theft after shoplifting incident

FAIR HAVEN — A local woman was arrested and charged with retail theft following a shoplifting investigation by the Fair Haven Police Department.

On Oct. 2, police took Samantha A. Mahoney, 35, into custody after an investigation that started with a shoplifting complaint on Sept. 26 at the Dollar General on Main Street.

Officers responded to the store’s call and identified Mahoney as the suspect.

According to authorities, Mahoney allegedly concealed items and left the store without paying.

The Fair Haven Police, after gathering sufficient evidence, arrested Mahoney.

She was later released with an order to appear in Rutland district court to respond to the charge.

The investigating officer, Ptl. Tyler Duel, continues to handle the case.

No further details were provided, and no photo was available at the time of Mahoney’s arrest.
