PORTLAND — A man from Uniondale, N.Y., is facing nine charges following a police pursuit that occurred early Monday morning, police said.
At approximately 2:36 a.m. on Sept. 9, a Portland Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for running multiple blinking red lights.
The incident began on Franklin Street near Fox Street when the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Francis Olukogbon, failed to yield despite the officer’s activated lights and siren.
Olukogbon continued to drive until he finally stopped on Everett Street.
Initially to be charged with Driving to Endanger and Failing To Stop For An Officer, Olukogbon became combative, resisted arrest, and fled on foot.
After a short pursuit, officers apprehended him with significant resistance and transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.
The charges filed against Olukogbon include Driving to Endanger, Failure to Stop for an Officer, Assault on an Officer, Refusing to Submit to Arrests/Detention-Refusing to Stop, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention-Physical Force, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention-Bodily Injury, Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drug (W), and Falsifying Physical Evidence.
Police found Olukogbon in possession of 2.34 grams of Cocaine HCL and .62 grams of methamphetamines at the time of his arrest.
