SHELDON — A single-vehicle accident resulted in a car plunging into the Missisquoi River at the intersection of Rt 105 and Rt 236 on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Vermont State Police, alongside local fire and rescue teams, were called to the scene at 10:43 a.m. after a Subaru Outback, driven by Jamie Mason, 37, of Richford, veered off the road.
Mason, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, escaped injury as the car traveled down an embankment and into the river.
The vehicle sustained severe damage but was successfully retrieved from the water.
Traffic on Rt 105 experienced minor disruptions during the recovery operation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
The weather and road conditions were reported as clear and dry at the time of the accident.
